In the year 2000, after many nights of prayer in our founding Pastors
Deven and Kathy Pedeaux’s living room, God began to create and reveal
the heart and DNA of The Mission Church. Twenty five leaders gathered
there to cry out to God and dream of a life-giving church filled with vision
to love and reach out to our community.
The Mission Church held its first service on February 4th, 2001 right across
the street from Southeastern Louisiana University in the former University
Twin Cinema. Eighty beautiful people came on that first Sunday with
excitement, expectation, and with great curiosity of what God could be
doing through this little church.
Pastors Deven and Kathy Pedeaux started The Mission Church because
they felt the call of God to plant a church that would “Build Big People
who would do Big Things for God.” They asked God why they should
start another church when there were good churches already established
in our community? The Lord said, “I want you to start a new church
because it will be unique and have a different strategy to win souls.” So
in obedience, with literally nothing in hand but a dream, a word from God,
and a supernatural measure of faith, The Mission Church was born!
Pastors Deven and Kathy’s dream has always been that the body of
Christ would realize their dreams and fulfill their purpose in Christ as they
take the exciting journey of life together with the family of God. Their joy
is and will continue to be, seeing men and women equipped and released
into doing the work of the ministry!
Pastors Deven and Kathy will forever
continue to serve as founding pastors as well as in an apostolic role,
covering and deeply loving The Mission Church.
